FREQUENCY opened its doors on July 20th at Palazzo Pisani-Revedin and it welcomed the viewers into a realm that depicts the material world while suggesting hidden meanings.

During the exhibition, Fant Wenger was interviewed by the curator Luca Curci, providing valuable insights into his artistic process and inspirations. The brilliance of Wenger’s creations offered an inspiring suspension that invites the visitors into contemplation and introspection.

Without providing definitive answers, his talent sparked curiosity and drew the audience into a state of wonder; his artworks, with their bold, bright colours and grand dimensions, immersed the public in a captivating journey, unleashing fantastical thoughts and emotions. Each line on the canvas opens a portal to the artist’s mind: as the viewers delved into this world, they found themselves captivated by the enigmatic allure of Wenger’s art.

The paintings exhibited showcased the master usage of colours, which melt the natural and technological elements within the landscapes: the interplay of railway wagons, telephone poles, parabolic antennas, and satellites with the raw beauty of nature creates a rugged environment, inviting to contemplation.

Through the clever use of light, Wenger’s elements glimmered, illuminating the entire picture surface, which becomes almost supernaturally: in this way, the components stand out in stark contrast to the more subdued areas of the canvas, highlighting their importance into his imaginative narrative. As a result, the scenes portrayed seem to reside within the realms of dreams or distant memories, sleeping into the depths of unconscious thoughts.

The artworks were complemented on the lower floor by an installation, that added an additional captivating element to the exhibition: a series of mannequins appeared seated at desks, depicted in various intriguing poses. The singular consistent feature of the installation was the interweaving of electrical cables, traversing from mannequin to mannequin and culminating at the water door of the Palazzo. In the artist’s poetic expression, the connection between the mannequins and Venice unveiled a profound sentiment: an immersive experience which allowed the viewers to contemplate their interrelation with the city, and, of course, Wenger’s bond to the whole world.
