The Red Thread by Wood Bagot
Location: Sydney, Australia
Status: Completed, 2022
The 13 levels of adaptable workspace at NAB 3PS are connected by the red staircase that has become the motif of Woods Bagot’s collaborations with NAB. The integrated fitout project in Sydney’s Parramatta was designed in parallel with NAB 2CS, the latest NAB workplace in Sydney’s CBD. Hand-in-hand these two workspaces form a NAB Sydney campus, offering Woods Bagot the unique opportunity to boldly transform the NAB experience for 6000 employees.
The design response for the NAB 3PS project was informed by an ‘emerging’ project persona, in contrast to the ‘respected’ persona of its NAB 2CS counterpart. The ‘emerging’ theme focussed on creating a raw and authentic aesthetic, representative of the greater Sydney context and a culturally diverse demographic.
The lower levels of the building encourage engagement with the public realm, deliberately ‘lifting the curtain’ on the inner workings by drawing the customer and community inward into immersive and accessible amenity spaces.
Home to a high proportion of the bank’s support staff, the upper levels are comprised of a diversified suite of spaces: adaptable team workspaces, secure workspaces and contact centers.
The latest chapter in the NAB and Woods Bagot’s unfolding story, NAB 3PS exemplifies the brand’s commitment to driving positive organisational change through design.
