Monos Sotos Studio has completed Postcard from Balkans, a site-specific installation in Pyrgos, Greece, dated August 2026.
The work brings together lights, painting directly on the wall and a painting on canvas. Its painted elements operate at two distinct scales: the acrylic-on-canvas work measures 2.3 × 1.5 metres, while the acrylic wall painting spans 4.3 × 4 metres. Rather than treating the canvas as a self-contained picture, the installation places it in direct relation to the surrounding painted surface and illumination.
Monos Sotos Studio credits MS Studio Athens with the project’s photography and editing. The installation was made at a venue the studio identifies as 2001 art space.
The project follows a practice associated with Monos Cωtos—pronounced Monos Sotos—whose work has moved between painting, murals and interventions in built environments. Based in Athens, the artist began in graffiti and street art before studying at the Athens School of Fine Arts.
