“Homecoming” by Artist Huntz Liu

New work from Los Angeles-based Taiwanese-American artist Huntz Liu (previously featured here). Liu deals primarily with cut paper, layering and removing the material to create a visual language of unflattened two-dimensional forms and weighted lines and edges. His latest solo show, “Homecoming,” explores themes related to the origins of things, revisiting watershed moments that may have appeared inconsequential but lead to something irrevocable. The exhibition invites the audience to consider landmark moments in their own lives and the paths that were forged as a result.

“Having been born in Taiwan, this show is a return home of sorts and marks my first time exhibiting on the island. My relationship with Taiwan has changed throughout the course of my life: from being home — to being the unfamiliar — to being the home away from home. The evolution continues, but for now, I bring back and share these layered fruits from my time away.”

See more images from “Homecoming” below or on display at Whimsy Works in Taipei until March 3rd.
