My artistic journey began in the world of sculpture. That is where I learned to carve wood and stone, weld steel, model clay, and caste bronze. Those early years instilled in me a deep respect for materiality and the physical dialogue between hand and medium.

When studio constraints led me away from sculpture, I turned to painting and collage as new ways to explore form and structure. I began working with acrylics and a range of unconventional materials, including ribbons, lace, rhinestones, and cut mat boards.

The resulting compositions evolved into luminous, grid-based abstractions that garnered several awards and became a defining chapter in my practice.

Experimentation has always guided my work. Over time, my materials have ranged from silk to cement, each chosen for its ability to evoke sensation and surprise.

My devotion to abstraction remains constant. It is a language through which I construct unknown worlds, inviting viewers to experience space, color and emotion beyond the literal.

My newest series, which utilizes my abstract photographs, was inspired by weekly visits to a photographic gallery in my hometown of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. The first assignment was to photograph bottles. Not having any of interest to me, I chose a green cleaning bottle, reflecting it through Mylar, along with my textural collages and silk. The resulting images are dreamlike, serene and reverent; an intimate dance between opacity and light.

Artmaking has filled my life with discovery and depth. It is both a discipline and a form of wonder, continually revealing new ways to see and to be.
