Etok Project

Etok Project is a French brand of upcycled clothing, jewellery and accessories founded in 2021 by three women of the same family willing to combine art and fashion around collaborative projects. The project is pushed by Gaëlle Fleur Debeaux, an Art History graduate, multidisciplinary artist for more than 25 years and the designer of all of Etok Project’s styles and models. She co-founded the brand with her sister Marie and her daughter Maïmouna Flora.

Together, they continuously develop the “Etok Project style“, at the crossroads between art, design, and French fashion through unique pieces. Each creation is conceived in a way that everyone sees it above all, as an art to be worn, preserved, and passed on from generation to generation like a jewel.

The Etok Project style is genuinely chic and urban, made of loose and unisex clothing, developed around fluidity and body movement. Etok Project is part of a sustainable approach to what tomorrow’s fashion should be: away from overconsumption and fast fashion, by freeing itself from diktats, trends, genres, age, or seasons.

Each garment, accessory or piece of jewellery is made in France, as a unique piece or in a small series, in line with its own criteria and aspirations: a creative idea, an unusual material, an inspiring artistic encounter… It is no longer the rhythm of collections and seasons which influences the production, but exclusively creativity and availability of fabrics.

Upcycling is an integral part of their DNA: all fabrics i.e, wools, nets, sails, buttons or metals come from end-of-stock or recycling. One collection has also been conceived from construction sites’ safety nets, rehabilitated, and used as looms, bringing to life to one-of-a-kind clothes and bags. Each piece is produced by independent seamstresses and dressmakers located in France, paid at a fair price and respected in their work rhythm considering some models require more than 60 hours of work.

The collaborative projects carried out with artists from all sensibilities aim to promote art in all its forms. Many artists, visual artists, designers, weavers, dyers, graffiti or tattoo artists are regularly invited to conceptualize unique creations, co-signed and counted. The asymmetry in a weave, a pattern or a dye is the happy result of manual work and gives an additional soul to these unique creations, such as works of art to carry on oneself.
