A series highlighting the warmth and resilience of Hatian culture by photographer and director Frédéric Georges. Born in Port-au-Prince, Georges attended St. John’s University in New York, where he specialized in photography and directing. His work spans personal projects as well as fashion and editorial assignments that reflect a sensitivity to the people, places, and stories he encounters. Georges is interested in capturing moments of quiet intensity, exploring the passage of time, and fleeting emotions.
“Anba Solèy Lakay (Under The Sun of Home): Portrayal of Haiti” is an ongoing project that seeks to present Haiti beyond the limited narratives often shown in the media. Through his lens, Georges focuses on the everyday lives, landscapes, and moments that define the country’s unique character. The work also offers an intimate perspective rooted in George’s personal experience and memories of home. Each image speaks to the layers of beauty, complexity, and humanity that are often overlooked. The series invites viewers to see Haiti as Georges knows it, “a place of depth, life, and enduring spirit.”
