Swoon and Rabi Join InScope’s New Beachfront Programme in Miami

Swoon and Rabi Towing are among the first artists announced for InScope, a new beachfront cultural event debuting during Miami Art Week. Scheduled for December 1–6, 2026, at Ocean Drive and 8th Street, the programme brings large-scale installations, murals and site-specific work into the setting of an art fair.

Announced on September 29, InScope is being developed by Matt Middleton, Alexis Hubshman, Hayley River Smith and the team behind SCOPE Art Show. Its first Feature Projects lineup also includes Alake Shilling with Tlaloc Studios, Aurora Mititelu and Jason Hackenwerth with CAMP Gallery. Further projects and commissions are due to be announced.

Swoon’s presentation centres on The House Our Families Built, a mobile sculpture with cutaway walls revealing domestic scenes and portraits. Originally commissioned by PBS for American Portrait in partnership with RadicalMedia in 2021, the work brings family histories into a house-shaped structure that can travel between settings.

Its inclusion brings a mobile public artwork into the beachfront programme. A work can carry an intimate subject into a shared space, allowing people to look into a domestic environment from outside. The mobile format also raises questions about how an artwork’s meaning changes as it reaches different audiences and places.

InScope’s wider programme combines gallery presentations with conversations, dinners and music. The beachfront setting offers an opportunity to look at the relationship between a temporary event and its surroundings: how installations meet a landscape, how visitors move between them, and whether the spaces between scheduled activities encourage discovery.

At this stage, those are questions for the December presentation rather than conclusions about an event that has already happened. The announced projects make the art programme worth following as further details emerge, especially where artists with roots in public work are developing installations beyond a conventional booth.

The official InScope website lists gallery-floor hours of 11am to 7pm daily for December 1–6 and current registration options. Individual event times are still being announced. Visit Swoon’s project page for further information about the mobile sculpture and its history.
