hyyperrealistic painting of a martini

“Martini Splash” oil, 18 x 24

Born and raised in Oklahoma where I started my art career, I now call rural New Mexico my home. I live with my beloved husband of many years along with our cats, dogs, chicken, ducks and bees.

realistic oil painting of a chocolate covered cherry

“Cordial Cherry” oil, 9″ x 12″

Vintage toys, glass, draped fabric and books are just a few of the the objects that inspire my still lifes. One of my favorite subjects is food. Food is one of the great pleasures of life. And I never run out of inspiration. Food is all around us everyday. And who doesn’t love food? My food paintings are all about color and texture.

still life painting of flaky cherry turnover

“Cherry Turnover” oil, 18″ x 24″

I love painting the different textures in the food itself. Flaky pastry with shiny bright colored fruit oozing out makes me want to dig right in.

realistic oil painting of licorice candies

“Eye Candy” oil, 24″ x 36″

Colorful candies spilling out of a glass jar put a smile on my face. The matte finish of the candy against the hard shiny glass are a beautiful contrast.

hyperrealistic oil painting of gumball machines

“Peanuts and Gumballs” oil, 18″ x 24″

And who doesn’t love a dessert topped with mountains of whipped cream? Again, the different textures are what challenge me.

realistic still life painting of cookies and treats

“Foiled Again” oil, 40″ x 30″

One of my favorite subjects is chocolates or cookies wrapped in bright colored foil. I love the intricate texture of the wrinkled foil along side the surface of the smooth treats.

painting of peanut butter and jelly sandwich in still life

“Midnight Snack” oil 30″ x 40″

One of my favorite foods is peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I could eat them three times a day and never grow tired of them. Not only are they delicious, but the texture of the bread and the rich color of the jelly are a joy to paint.

hyperrealistic oil painting of lollipops

“Red and Green, oil, 30″ x 40”

Beautiful fruit reflected in a silver bowl or shiny table top make me realize how an ordinary scene can be a thing of beauty.

realistic oil painting of licorice allsorts

“Licorice Allsorts” oil, 16 x 20

Do I eat my subjects when I’m finished painting them. You bet I do. I’ve been accused of painting chocolate kisses just so I have an excuse to buying a bag of them. What do you think?
