CANVAS is an International Art Fair that will present collective and solo projects by leading and emerging international artists. The 2023 edition will represent a forum for the direct exchange of ideas and contacts between collectors, artists, photographers, designers and art professionals. The word “canvas” was used for the first time in Italy in the 14th century and it has become the most common support medium for oil painting, replacing wooden panels. Over the centuries, the canvas’ meaning has changed, starting from paintings, through photographic and cinematographic film, exploring the human body, to the digital world. Canvas is the creatives’ common ground, on which they can express themselves. We invite all the artists to share their personal artistic research through any kind of media, from painting to sculptures and installation, from photography to video art and live performance.

CANVAS INTERNATIONAL ART FAIR consists of 3 main events: BODYSPACES (January / February), MIXING IDENTITIES and VISIONS. We are now selecting artists for:

– MIXING IDENTITIES from March 03 to March 21, 2023, at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello
Deadline for applications is January 27, 2023 (11.59 PM your local time)

– VISIONS from April 07 to April 24, 2023, at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello
Deadline for applications is January 27, 2023 (11.59 PM your local time)

Artists are free to take part in one or more events. To take part in the selection fill the form below

The concept of MIXING IDENTITIES is based on the reconstruction of new identities: their transformation is essential to face the changes of the contemporary world. The process of building ourselves passes through the continuous relations with other people’s identities and the identities of communities, cultures and societies. The event focuses on the human body as a changing system that connects us with other bodies and spaces to perceive the surrounding reality, a strong communication system with its own language and infinite ways of expression. We invite artists to analyse the hidden parts of our identities, through an immersive experience inside the fascinating universe of the complex labyrinths of our consciousness.

The participation includes the following services
– exhibition space dedicated to the artist’s works
– assisting with customs formalities, international shipping and local transport
– assisting in finding accommodation
– the design and printing of invitation cards, posters
– the global and local press office, publicity, press, banners, totem, etc.
– the realization of the exhibition website and dedicated press releases
– mounting and dismounting of the exhibition
– exhibitions opening event with drinks and food
– a dedicated interview published on ITSLIQUID website and spread on our social networks
– providing services and drinks for small meetings at the exhibition places for invited guests

To take part in the selection, send your works’ submissions with a CV/biography, some still images (for video-art), links to videos/performances and pictures via e-mail to director@itsliquid.com or fill the form below

OUR LOCATION

Palazzoalbrizzicapello 001 1

Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello is one of the most known palaces of the Renaissance in Venice. It is a historical building dating back to the 16th century, and it has been owned by several noble Venetian families, as demonstrated by the frescoed ceilings, the artistic stuccos and the fine furniture that enriches its rooms. The Palace welcomes visitors with its beautiful private garden on the ground floor, and then it gathers the guests in its large first-floor salons, in which past and present dialogue together. The restored Old Masters’ frescoes and the contemporary art masterpieces that are periodically shown in the exhibitions hosted here, make Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello the perfect location for the balance between old and new, between ancient environment and contemporary art, architecture and design.

Today the building is managed by ACIT Venice – the Italian-German Cultural Association – which is considered one of the most important intercultural associations in Europe. Thanks to the ACIT unceasing cultural activity, Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello has nowadays frequent collaborations with the Goethe Institute and with other local and international institutions, maintaining its ancient reputation. Because of these relations, it presents a huge program of memorable art exhibitions, conferences, congresses and concerts. Among the last institutional exhibitions, is its participation in the 58th Venice Biennale with the Guatemala pavilion, the Dominican Republic pavilion and the Grenada pavilion. ITSLIQUID Group already had the pleasure to hold some festivals and exhibitions in Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello, such as MORPHOS Festival and FUTURE IDENTITIES Festival, both in 2014.

SOME OF OUR LAST EXHIBITIONS

Javier Serrano Alix, Spain
It is a good platform to make your work known, outside your country as well as in your country; it has been a good experience and I hope that more experiences will follow. I find it very interesting, a platform dedicated to the dissemination of artistic activities such as photography, painting, sculpture, architecture, and visual art… in which artists can make known their works in different countries, it’s fantastic! I hope to continue collaborating with ITSLIQUID for many years to come.

Frédéric Demeuse, Belgium

Yunshi Chen and Ruichen Xu, USA
We are impressed by the ITSLIQUID GROUP which is extremely professional when organizing the exhibition. You broke tons of the barriers that we architects/artists would face when presenting our projects to people who may not be familiar with the industry. And the group also offers help to us when delivering our work to London. We are thankful and still feel honoured to be selected and exhibited in the LONDON CONTEMPORARY 2022 exhibition.

“Always supportive and encouraging, ITSLIQUID offers a hugely important opportunity for all artists across a range of art forms at a time when the old systems in the art world are clearly failing.”
