Cristina Corvino‘s artistic background combines skills in painting, architecture, and restoration. This blend has given rise to her unique style, which she calls “Arte Conservativa”, where restoration itself becomes a form of art through the use of natural pigments, lime and sand-based plaster. In this style, her compositions pay tribute to the great masters of the past while preserving the essence of classical art, reinterpreting it in a modern context.
Her artworks were born from the idea of rescuing ancient treasures and giving them a new life and dignity thanks to the study of original materials. Her pieces “I Picozzati”, a collection marked by a vibrant palette, invite the viewer to explore a universe of endless interpretations and interactive experiences.
In Cristina Corvino’s works, the conservation of our historical and artistic heritage gives voice to significant themes related to women in society: creation, emancipation, and violence. Similarly, the pieces that have been neglected, abandoned, and then rediscovered emit an energy symbolizing rebirth with a deep intensity of lived experience. The narration of the restoration process through its various phases becomes a new language in contemporary art, capturing the most significant gestures of composition within geometries and frames, simplifying the understanding of the classical world. The ancient and the modern merge to create a unique and contemporary masterpiece.
