World of WearableArt is bringing its 2026 show, GLO!, to Wellington’s TSB Arena through October 4. The event takes garments created for an international design competition and presents them through a theatrical performance, giving each work a body, movement and a place within a shared spectacle.

New Zealand designer Kayla Christensen has received the 2026 Supreme WOW Award for Sacred Nightfall. The award sits within a programme in which the garments seen on stage are finalists in the competition. The show combines wearable art with live music, dance and aerial choreography.
This year’s six competition themes are Open, Avant-garde, Aotearoa, Metallic, Kinetic and Bizarre Bra. Together, they give designers several routes into making work for a moving body. The range also suggests a way to approach the presentation: pay attention to the material and construction, then consider what changes when the object is performed.
The relationship between sculpture and movement is central to the show. An artwork encountered in a public setting is shaped by how people move around it. Wearable art adds another possibility: the object moves with a performer, and its appearance can change with posture, lighting and choreography.
A photograph can show the construction, but the stage introduces time. How does a form behave as its wearer turns? What becomes visible from a distance? How does a group of works occupy the same space? Those are useful questions for readers interested in installation and sculpture as much as costume.
The festival also makes the people behind the objects visible. Following a garment back to its designer helps separate the individual work from the scale of the overall production. It is a reminder that a large performance is built from many smaller creative decisions, each involving its own materials, constraints and ideas.
GLO! runs at TSB Arena, Queens Wharf, Wellington, until October 4, 2026. The official show page provides the current schedule, tickets and access information. Check the remaining performance dates directly before booking, as the published schedule includes changes to earlier performances.
