In this week’s session, we meet Colorado artist Joshua Pass. Speaking of his background, Josh says
I have desired to be an artist my whole life. It started very early being exposed to “Indian” art markets by my parents along with the art section of reading rainbow on TV. I am old enough and fortunate that in Middle and High school they still had shop and art classes because this was the only place that I fit. At the end of high school, I lost my way a little but entered into the trade as a machinist where I developed skills as a professional maker. Then several women entered my life that were obsessed with art and they re-awoke the sleeping giant. Following the insistence of one of them, I entered my new trade of metalsmithing/jewelry making. While I quickly rose to the top in my field and the making came easy, it still wasn’t my voice but over time my own work became larger and larger until I realized that I was a sculptor. Once again feeling like starting over with a head start I started to find my voice and collect the right tools.
