Invader Creates a New Mosaic Invasion in Lapland

Invader is taking his mosaic project into Lapland. The artist describes the northern campaign as an “Invasion of Lapland in progress,” and Lapland now appears as a territory on his official world index.

The designation is broader than the city names that anchor many of his invasions. Rather than presenting a single wall as the project, Invader has framed this work as an ongoing campaign across a region. His three-image update marks its arrival, not a completed inventory.

Invader’s invasions build a dispersed presence through small, tiled figures in public space. His world index connects those works across cities and territories; adding Lapland extends the project’s map into northern Europe. The artist also references Sápmi, the Sámi homeland, in his description of the campaign. The two geographic terms are not interchangeable.
