Vibrant paintings by artist Ji Won Cha. Born in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea and currently based in London, Cha earned her BFA in Painting from RISD and her MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art. Cha’s work offers up a sense of sublime fluctuation or controlled chaos. Her paintings capture the feeling of experiencing something both very quickly and in slow motion, creating a kind of deliberate turbulence. Taking images from nature as a starting point, Cha’s paintings evolve into new forms and energies, a fluid landscape operating by a logic all their own.
Ji Won Cha’s work will be on display as part of The Armory Show via Baert Gallery, from September 4th to 7th in New York.
